Steel Challenge Match (unsanctioned) @ Townsend Rod and Gun Club

The Townsend Rod and Gun Club will be hosting (Unsanctioned) Steel Challenge Matches on the 1st Sunday of every month.

  • 4 Stages per match (min). Each stage is shot 5 times.
  • Cost $15
  • Registration and check-in begins at 8am.
  • Safety Brief will be held at 9am, with first rounds fired shortly after.

Firearms that can be used in matches.

  • Centerfire Handguns and Revolvers (9mm / 38 special or greater)
  • 22LR Handguns and Revolvers
  • 22LR Semiauto Rifles
  • Pistol Caliber Carbines (9mm to 45ACP)

Recommended/Required Equipment

  • 5 Magazines recommended, 2 magazines can be used but you must have someone loading magazines for you while you’re shooting.  “Each competitor is expected to come to the firing line ready to shoot, with an appropriate amount of ammunition in an appropriate number of magazines or speed loaders or other loading devices.”
  • Holsters are required for Centerfire Handguns and Revolvers.  –  “In general, holsters shall be mounted at the waist, must cover the trigger, and must safely hold/retain the gun. All Centerfire handguns must be appropriate for holster use. Female competitors are permitted to wear a belt, holster and allied equipment at hip.”
  • If you do not have a holster, pistols must be transported around the range in a case.
  • Ammunition Carriers – Unlike USPSA competition where magazine placement varies by division, in Steel Challenge magazine carriers may be placed anywhere on the belt, regardless of division. For all divisions magazines may be placed on top of the barrel or table available at the shooting box. Magazines need not be transported in a magazine pouch.”
  • Ear and Eye Protection is Required for ALL competitors and spectators.
  • 250 rounds are recommended.  The minimum round count will be 100 rounds (if you have no misses).  “Any ammunition deemed unsafe or likely to damage the targets will be removed from use. Examples include, but are not limited to: Steel Jacketed, Steel core, tracer, and incendiary ammunition.”
  • Please wear weather appropriate clothing and bring the an appropriate amount of water to stay hydrated.

Break at lunch for 1 hour for a restock of the pond

Hannaford Fishing Derby (All Ranges Closed 8am-2pm) @ Townsend Rod and Gun Club

  1. Hannaford Fishing Derby is for Hannaford Friends & Family and Club Members of all ages, cost is $15 per person.  
  2. All participants will be required to check in upon arrival to the derby inside clubhouse.  
  3. Participants are responsible for their own gear, bait and tackle.
  4. Derby will start at 8:00am and end at 2:00pm. 
  5. No Fishing before start time of Derby.  
  6. The Derby will begin when signaled by official (Host)  
  7. All contestants must fish from the shoreline.    
  8. There will be a three (3) fish limit per person, you can re up for $5.00 more anytime. 
  9. All Fish must be caught by the contestant’s fishing pole. You may take fish to be measured inside at any time during derby.
  10. Fish caught during the Derby will be measured and entered on a data sheet by the Fishing Derby judges.  Derby fish are tallied up and looked over for a chance to win prize.  
  11. A cash prize will be awarded for Biggest Fish overall. There will be one (1) Golden Trout that will have its own prize attached when caught. There will be prizes awarded for Biggest Fish and Smallest Fish in Kids category (Kids ages are 15 and under). 
  12. You do not have to be present for prizes as long as you provided a telephone number so you may be reached if winner.
  13. There will be various items for a raffle that will be ongoing throughout day inside clubhouse.
  14. The Club’s kitchen will be open during event to offer food and drinks at participants cost.
  15. The club’s ranges will be closed during this event.  
  16. Have a safe and fun fishing experience!

3 Exciting Stages
All based off of the Battles of Concord & Lexington.
Bonus Stage
Precision black powder rifle shot & hatchet throw.
(supplies for black powder and hatchet throw provided)

3 Divisions
= Open – Standard 2-gun equipment.
= Scout – All ammunition for the day must be carried on your person throughout the entire match, all obstacles must be completed and a rifle sling is required.
= Armored – Same as scout but you must wear body armor throughout the match.

Boaters Safety Course

Spring Rendezvous @ Townsend Rod and Gun Club
Apr 25 – Apr 28 all-day

April 25,26,27,28. Townsend Rod and Gun spring rondezvous.  Line shoot at the range on Friday.  Woods walk Saturday and Sunday.  Camping Thursday Friday and Saturday nite  edged weapons trail walk all days. Merchandise prizes by 2:00 pm Sunday.    Other events will be 50/50.   $5 at the range and $2 each for edged weapons competitions.  Contact Bob Smith. 978-621-6283.  We will follow the same format for the fall rondezvous on September 12,13,14&15.
